Doom III
I got it!
It is a scary game, let me tell you. I was just playing; it’s dark outside, no lights on and my sound pumped up. With the ‘brightness’ option kept low, you can hardly see a damn thing in that game. Your best friend is your flashlight! But to scare your pants off even more, you have to equip your flashlight as a weapon of its own, meaning you can’t shoot anything when you have your flashlight on because you have no weapon equipped. It makes it a lot more scary because you see a guy, so you have to turn of the flashlight to equip a weapon — then you don’t know where the hell to shoot!
If you suffer from claustrophobia, then you do not want to play this game. The corridors are dark and narrow, sounds coming from every direction and if you see fog or blood splatters — that is not a good thing (it’s a tip right out of the manual). You’ll be strutting along a corridor, thinking your hot shit with your loaded shotgun and deadly aim when you hear some screeching behind you. You turn around, ready to shoot — adrenaline pumping, and you stop. It was only a loose valve letting off steam. What? Steam? Steams bad! You turn back around and there they are, ready to kill you. Ahhhhhh!
Hope I painted a pretty picture for you
I’ll post screenshots tomorrow if I’ve got time.

Apparently you need a pretty good computer though. My 3.1GHz, 1Gig RAM and ATI 9600XT is running the game smoothly at 1024×768. I haven’t tried anything higher then that though.

umm errr do I have to answer that, actually my system is not that bad, I upgrade every 3 years now, unlike the 486 I held on to for far more longer than I should have…
I have a HP celeron 1.7GHz (bugsy) and a celeron 1.0GHz(HAL1000) that I built myself.
And no, I dont have any fancy graphics card.

oh yeah and my motto is buy the cheapest spec good quality computer I can at the time, and just update it every 3 years. I dont believe in buying the best available at the time.
August 5th, 2004 at 3:07 am
That’s not bad. But technology is moving too fast these days to wait every 3 years! I got my computer at Christmas and I’m already getting ready to upgrade :-p
August 5th, 2004 at 3:21 am
Yeah but you can upgrade, your rich!
Me, Im just a poor struggling webmeister

Soon to launch an offline magazine. Would you be interested to write in a section for gaming? Revert for more info. and yes Chroder, I’m scouting for great talents, not just someone who knows how to write
Later, AA

Perhaps once and a while. I’m extremely busy these days and don’t have that much time for gaming, but I’d love to contribute when I have the chance.

Wow, offline magazine, sounds very interesting!!!
August 7th, 2004 at 11:04 pm
Dude, yeah, very interesting.
Where would you be circulating this zine AA?
I would have fun doing something like that, but I’m too poor to have much variety in my gaming.

Hey how does your bolg know who I am?
It’s got all my info filled out on the form here. Anyway I used to be a big doom fan, multiplayer games were so much fun. This flashlight business sounds very annoying though.
I think I’ll stick to waiting for the Sims2..can’t wait!
August 11th, 2004 at 12:32 pm
You’ve got the Google bar don’t you? Maybe you’ve got that ‘remember forms’ feature enabled.
The flashlight thing can get annoying, there are hacks out for it now that that allow you to have the flashlight on at the same time. So not all bad, it’s part of the effect though.
Sims2? Eeew… :p

OMG you mean not everyone is anxiously awaiting the release of sims2??? :p Oh well.
No it’s not the Google toolbar doing it, I don’t have the form filling option enabled. Maybe it’s magic.

Sims2, sounds like a girlie game…. Simpsons2, now that would be cool…
August 14th, 2004 at 3:37 am
I remember the first Sims. I used to love it. I’d just use a cheat and get a bunch of cash and build the house. That’s the only reason I played the game, screw working or sleeping or socializing, I was too busy building

True dat. And controlling their little lives… what, your boss is angry about you not being at work? Well screw him, the pizza guy isn’t even here yet!
