New HDD
I went out and bought a new hard drive today. A nice WD 160gig S-ATA drive
I’m so dumb too. My mind was somewhere else… I installed the hardware, then the RAID controllers, but it wasn’t showing up. I started thinking I was forgetting something — and I was. Duh, it has to be formatted first.
Tomorrow I’m going to install Windows on it. It’s a little more tough because you’ve got to load extra drivers onto a floppy. Maybe I’ll just slipstream the drivers along with SP2 onto a CD. Depends on how lazy I’m feeling.
It’s about time for a fresh install anyway ![]()

I’ve been burning a lot of things to DVD’s because of low disk space, hopefully this 160gig will last a while.

Ironic, I just went out and bought a new HDD the other day as well. Although not as fancy and new-fangled as yours I got a good deal on it. After rebates, 80 brand new gigs of space for 22 bucks.

What name was on it though? Something like Maxtor?
Even then, $22 is a really good deal.

Afterall these years, you’d think manufacturers could actually come up with a plug n play thang yet… non! they HAVE to make our lives living HELL

It wasnt too long ago that I was using a 4gig hdd, I have a 80gig seagate barracuda now, although I have probably only used about 8gig of it or less.

Its a Wester Digital. Which may not be the top of the line but I have three of them and they work fine for me.

WD’s are the best IMO. An 80gig WD for 22 bucks is a very good deal in my books.

yeah, i am WD fan as well. got three WD’s and a seagate drive in my system right now. 22 bucks is a hell of a deal for an 80 gig drive, regardless of manufacturer. i paid more than that for a 40 gig WD drive not to long ago on ebay.
i really need to get a DVD bruner and start burning large amounts of data to them, as i only have room for 2 more HDD’s in my system and you wouldn’t believe how fast i fill those.
